The neck is the top part of the spine that consists of 7 vertebrae (spine bones) with a disc in between each.  The skull is attached to the top of the first vertebra and the 7th cervical vertebra transitions to the 1st thoracic vertebra.

Headaches can have many causes.  First and foremost, you should insure that your headaches are not migraines or that they are not being caused by other problems, such as a cyst in the brain.  If you get headaches on a regular basis, when you begin to get one, jot down the day and time as well as what you have had to eat and drink over the past 6 hours or so.  You might also include any activity you have been involved in over that same time span.  This will help you determine if there are any food (maybe caffeine?) or activity (maybe reading or computer work?) triggers.
